Originally known as Treknow Mill, The Mill House dates back to 1760, when it began life as a working corn mill. After closing in the late 1930s, it evolved from a private home into a guesthouse in 1945, before being refurbished and extended in 1960 to become a public house for the first time. Today, following thoughtful updates by successive owners, The Mill House is a welcoming inn, bar, restaurant, and wedding and events venue, blending historic character with modern comfort.
Set within acres of woodland in a peaceful coastal valley, The Mill House offers a calm escape with easy access to everything Cornwall has to offer. This beautifully restored 18th-century stone mill is known for its warm hospitality and exceptional food, making it the perfect place to unwind.
Inside, you’ll find a cosy bar, elegant dining room, and residents’ lounge – all complete with crackling log fires. The hotel offers eight characterful en-suite bedrooms, each with WiFi, TV, and some views across the gardens or valley, including a spacious family room sleeping up to five.
The light-filled dining room sits above the flowing millstream, relaxed by day and atmospheric by night, while the traditional beamed bar with Delabole slate floors is ideal for a drink, live music, and laid-back evenings. When the sun shines, guests can enjoy lunch or just drinks on our split-level outdoor terraces.
Our menus change regularly, celebrating the best locally sourced fish, meat, and produce, perfectly paired with local Tintagel Brewery ales and a thoughtfully curated, creative wine list. The Mill House has earned its reputation as a true Cornish gem.
Open all year round, The Mill House is a place to relax, celebrate, and enjoy Cornwall in every season.
